Baby Augusto and his family are ok. They live in Santiago, Chile and I was pretty worried for a while (they live on the 6th floor of an apartment building) until I heard from him about noon yesterday. They haven't had power, water or gas and some broken dishes that came out of the cupboards but they're ok. I can't even imagine what it was like further south... He was telling me what it was like when it happened - feeling the little rumble get bigger then feeling the building swaying and things crashing. They even had another little trembler while I was talking to him again last night.
I might have to rethink my plans to visit there... just sayin'. that's some scary shit.

Glad they are okay!
I think every part of the world has its own set of climate and/or cultural issues that are scary to anyone unfamiliar with them. Don't let this put you off from the idea of visiting them someday, after all, it will take quite a while for the country to recover from this. You've got time to get yourself ready too!
Oh, I'm so glad to hear it. I wondered if your son and his family were anywhere near the worst of it. You must be so relieved!
I'm so happy to hear that they are all okay!!!!
