Well, that didn't take long.

First day back to work since last thursday. Came in to find five people in my office putzing around. I had to keep say excuse me, etc. to put my purse and coat away.. they took no notice. They were too busy ... apparently while I was gone they have become quite fond of MY Keurig single cup coffee machine and have decided they will use it. (It sits directly behind my chair - in an inconvenient nook, and meant to be inconvenient to everyone but me). So I had to wait this morning while one made her tea, then another made her coffee... and it also appeared they have turned the top shelf in MY office with MY coffee machine into their own personal little coffee/snack center.

You've GOT to be freakin' kiddin' me.

You know, I probably wouldn't have minded if they asked - but to just comandeer everything while I'm gone.. well.. it pretty much pisses me off. Anybody know any tactful way (well, I'll try that route first) to tell them to get the hell out and stay out and leave my coffee machine alone!! (I didn't notice anyone wanting to pitch in some money for the $200 machine), and this ISN'T a break room - I have freakin' WORK to do (piles of it dude) and I need to concentrate just a little teeny bit to get it done. Yeah, didn't take me long to be miserable all over again.

And I won't even mention the stack of work that awaits me after a 5 day weekend... Big fun.

WTF? Are they using your kcups too? I don't think I'd be tactful; I'd tell them right out that you don't want them using it. Either that or tell them they need to contribute to the cost of the machine if they want to use it. I'd be so PO'd! I can't believe the nerve of people!

Unplug it and say that it is only to be used by one person ... you. After all, you bought it for your use. That's as tactful as you can be; other than taking it home. Also, who's going to be responsible when they start dripping coffee, sugar or creamer on your carpet? I say put your foot down. They treat you like crap anyway ... turn it around on them. xxoo

There is always a tactful way-assume they didn't know you brought the machine in for your own use. As folks try to use it do the doe eyed "oh, did you think this was the office machine? I brought this in myself. It is just too expensive for me to supply the machine for everyone. I can tell you where you can buy your own if you like it. If you need coffee I think the office machine is..." When you let folks preserve their ego they tend to think better of you. If you are harsh about the situation you don't get to gain anything, you will still feel violated and they will talk about what a bitch you are. You are so much better than that.
Be well. Glad you're back in civilization.

Put a money box with prices for items....$2 per cup of coffee, etc.

Ok, I kinda agree with Rollerwriter and Jamisyn, but you know what a hot head I am. :) xxoo

hehhe, you guys are cool... I just didn't say anything - these people all make way more than me and can certainly afford the $2 (for a medium regular!) coffee at the gourmet cart about 100 feet from my office - but I can't which is why I bought the machine in the first place - pays for itself over time.

SO I just parked in my chair and did my piles of work and they quickly found out it's very inconvenient for them to get around me to the machine.... hmmm, really??? hehehe

mia (and I locked up my kcups in a drawer too) naner-naner hehehe

Wow. That is shocking! I think I need to believe that people didn't realize it was your machine, not that they were stealing your coffee. I think your solution was a good one. People should catch on pretty quick. I hope...
